Top Questions to Ask a Wedding DJ

These questions from the American Disc Jockey Association can be helpful in interviewing any professional DJ you might be considering for your wedding or special event.

1. Are we guaranteed the DJ of our choice on the day of our event?

Yes. A written contract with your specific DJ protects you from unscrupulous operators.

2. How many years of experience do you have?

Skip has over 20 years of experience working in radio and television, hosting weddings, concerts and events of all kinds. Everyone who works for Skip Kelly Productions has a passion for music and has trained personally with Skip at multiple weddings before they started DJing weddings of their own.

3. May we contact your references?

Absolutely. We provide links to many of the people who have left a testimonial on the website and will gladly provide contact information for any reference you would like to confirm.

4. Do you belong to any professional organizations?

Yes. Skip Kelly Productions is a member of the American Disc Jockey Association and several Jacksonville Wedding Industry Professional groups. An involved business person should show a willingness to learn, network and share ideas. Belonging to a professional organization reflects a caring attitude.

5. Will you allow requests?

If you would like us to. We constantly remind our customers that we work for YOU. If you want us to take requests from your guests, then we most certainly will. As for YOUR requests, of COURSE!!

6. How early will you be there to set up?

We generally arrive about 2 hours before the music is scheduled to start, depending on how complicated the set up will be. We will arrive earlier if necessary.

7. How will you be dressed?

We always dress appropriately to the occasion.

8. Are you insured?

Insurance is a part of any legitimate business. We can provide coverage documents to any client or venue who requests it.

9. Do you use professional gear?

Definitely. Skip's wife thinks that he uses the business as an excuse to buy bigger and better "toys".

10. Do you have an emergency backup system?

We do. Skip is a bit of a geek when it comes to tech, so we have backups for backups for backups.
